Senior Men's

Mens First Team & Development Team (Reserves)
Teams participate in the National League structure. Birkenhead’s first team plays in the Premier division. The teams are overseen by the Head of Football and typically start pre-season training in January.

First team games are played on saturday afternoons and are immediately preceded by Development team games. Some midweek games are also played under floodlights.

The first team also compete in the Chatham Cup, New Zealand’s premier knockout tournament. The final is typically contested in late September and dates back to 1923. Birkenhead United won the competition for the first time in 2016.

 

Men’s Social Football

Teams participate in the Northern Regional Football League across under 19’s, open men’s and over 35 men’s grades.

Teams start pre-season training in mid March, with league games starting at the end of April. The season runs through to September, depending on progress in cup competitions. Games are typically played on saturday afternoons, with training midweek.
